It is claimed that by 2017 half of all the hotel reservations will be made via mobile, says Europe’s leading hotel portal, HRS. Moreover according to HRS’ data, business travellers are booking more and more while travelling, spontaneously or on the last minute and among them, 75 % are done via smartphones and apps. Shortly, it is expected that in three years mobile will be the dominating channel with every other booking made via mobile devices.

To have an idea, in 2013 HRS doubled its percentage of mobile bookings compared to 2012 when they had a 12 % increase.

TTS’ Take: This doesn’t come at all as a surprise. It is clear that travellers are too busy to sit at their desk booking trips and vacations. Everything is going mobile. In this regard, it is important that travel key entities like travel agencies provide the travellers the right technology to capture some of those bookings.
